Presentation Projects

All spatial aspects of the projects on this page were created in ArcMap or ArcScene. This included importing AutoCad drawing files to create point, line, or polygon feature classes that were exported from ArcMap to Google Earth for viewers without formal GIS Applications.

All 3D models were created from GIS feature classes exported from ArcMap to either AutoCad or Sketchup then exported to point locations witin Google Earth .

ANWR
The ANWR project consisted of plotting oil wells, geo-referencing an ANWR illustration to create polygon feature classes of the ANWR oil prospects. Oil Well point attributes from a sample grid relative to the size of ANWR prospects were exported to separate dbase files to generate animation sequences of population growth. Point features were selected based on year and projected into ANWR prospects with Hawths analytical tools. Spatial Joins and relates based on timestamps of oil well spud dates at 10year intervals were utilized for the animation sequences of population growth of Oil Wells in ANWR up to 2050 if the region were opened to drilling and exploration. Basically the project displays a relative development growth in ANWR to that of the Prudhoe Bay Oil Fields.

3D Transect
The 3D Transect model was created by geo-referencing the transect illustration from C to C prime oil well API well number point locations. A base seismic polyline was created and split into segments of equal length. The length was determined by a grid spacing that was created over the geo-referenced transect illustration to assign numerical weight to each cell with spatial analysis tools. The grid dbase was then exported and spatially joined to the seismic line sections denoting both strata classification and depth. The spatially joined dbase file was then exported from ArcMap to Google Earth to derive the 3D model of the geo-referenced Transect. The seismic illustration was also exported from ArcMap to lay under the 3D model in Google Earth.
